RIVERSIDE, CA – Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) is pleased to announce an affiliation with pediatric healthcare system, Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), and its medical specialty physician group CHOC Specialists, effective July 1, 2023. Under the partnership affiliation, CHOC neonatologists will provide in-house neonatology services at RCH, a 493-bed acute care hospital in the city of Riverside, an affiliate of HCA Healthcare.

Families experiencing high-risk pregnancies can take comfort in knowing RCH has the capabilities and resources to care for premature and very sick infants.”
RCH recently expanded its Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from 20-beds to 35-beds, including 3 isolation rooms. Other amenities include a parent sleep room, doctor on-call rooms, staff lounge and lactation consulting suites.
“We are pleased to extend the reach of our nationally recognized expertise to newborns requiring care at RCH.” says Dr. Vijay Dhar, division chief, neonatology, CHOC. “Our board-certified neonatologists currently provide coverage at multiple neonatal intensive care units across four counties and oversee approximately 55,000 high-risk deliveries throughout Southern California.”
RCH serves as one of the busiest labor and delivery units in Riverside County, with more than 3,600 babies delivered annually and 570 NICU admits in 2022. Together, RCH and CHOC will enhance patient care and safety for newborns, giving these babies their best chance to enjoy a happy, healthy childhood.
