Offering new hope to cancer patients throughout the Inland Empire Region
Riverside Community Hospital is proud to be the first center in the Inland Empire region to offer the CyberKnife Robotic Stereotactic Radiosurgery System for treatment of tumors and lesions in the brain, spine, head and neck, lung, liver, pancreas, and prostate, many of which have been deemed "inoperable".

What is CyberKnife Robotic Stereotactic Radiosurgery System?
The CyberKnife Robotic Stereotactic Radiosurgery System is one of the most advanced forms of radiosurgery and is a painless, non-invasive treatment that delivers high doses of precisely targeted radiation to treat cancer by destroying tumors or lesions within the body. CyberKnife gives physicians and patients a life-saving option for treating difficult tumors and lesions. CyberKnife reduces outpatient treatment visits to 1-5 versus the typical 25-40 visits.
CyberKnife uses a robotic arm to deliver highly focused beams of radiation. The flexibility of the robotic arm makes it possible to treat areas of the body that cannot be achieved by other radiosurgery systems. This unique technology allows physicians to treat complex-shaped tumors with clinically proven accuracy. The state-of-the-art image guidance system enables tracking and compensation for patient movement during treatment, ensuring accurate targeting throughout the treatment.
CyberKnife is the only radiation delivery system that constantly tracks the location of the tumor and, with its sub-millimeter accuracy, the CyberKnife is able to spare surrounding healthy tissue from damage in the process. If the patient moves during treatment, the CyberKnife automatically detects and compensates for the change, further ensuring that only the target tumor location is reached during treatment. The patient will be able to leave the facility immediately following the procedure. There is no incision, no pain and no recovery time.

What does this mean for patients in the Inland Empire?
Patients no longer need to drive long distances to the Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Diego areas to access the latest technology for cancer treatment. They now have access to technology such as the CyberKnife treatment close by at Riverside Community Hospital.
