Riverside, CA – Riverside Community Hospital and West Coast University partnered to present a nurse at the hospital a scholarship toward a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Riverside Community Hospital was chosen for this scholarship opportunity in recognition of our long-term partnership and commitment to West Coast University’s nursing students and graduates. The hospital and West Coast University have been in partnership since 2010 and, over that time, the hospital has increased the amount of West Coast student rotations in the facility from around 70 students to now over 200 students, every ten weeks.
Gurjit Grewal, Telemetry Stroke Nurse at Riverside Community Hospital, was selected from 46 nurses who expressed interested in the scholarship. “Any nurse that wants to further his or her education in the name of helping more patients and growing in their career was a worthy candidate of the scholarship,” said Annette Greenwood, Chief Nursing Officer, Riverside Community Hospital. “I sent the opportunity to all of our nurses and asked them to reply directly to me if they were interested in being considered. We decided to draw a name from a hat with everyone who expressed interest and Gurjit Grewal was our recipient.”
“This scholarship is intended to bring awareness to our online programs, help the hospital employees advance their educational goals and, most significantly, assist Riverside Community Hospital in fulfilling its goals of developing nurse leaders for the future,” said Cheryl Rojas, Director, Clinical Contracts, West Coast University. “I would like to personally congratulate Gurjit as the recipient of the MSN scholarship award!”
Gurjit was awarded her scholarship on Wednesday, June 27 and will enroll into West Coast University this coming fall.
