RCH receives prestigious Healthgrades recognitions
Riverside, CA – Riverside Community Hospital is one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery and America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Prostate Surgery according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions using Medicare data, and outcomes in appendectomy and bariatric surgery using all-payer data provided by 16 states.
The hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery have demonstrated exceptional quality of care. The Vascular Surgery specialty award recognizes hospitals with superior clinical outcomes in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid surgery, and peripheral vascular bypass surgery. To be considered for an award in this specialty area, a hospital’s performance must be evaluated for at least two of any three procedures based on MedPAR data. Healthgrades evaluate each procedure based on in hospital complications. The Vascular Surgery award is based on the volume-weighted average of the z-scores for at least two of three procedures. If a hospital meets eligibility requirements for ratings in all three procedures, the Vascular Surgery award will be based on the volume-weighted average z-score of all three procedures.
The Prostate Surgery specialty award is based on Prostate Removal Surgery and Transurethral Prostate Resection Surgery. To be considered for an award in this specialty area, a hospital must be evaluated for either one or both conditions based on MedPAR data. Healthgrades evaluate both procedures based on in-hospital complications. The Prostate Surgery award is based on the volume-weighted average of the z-scores for these procedures or the direct z-score if only one type of procedure is performed.
“Now more than ever, consumers understand the importance of hospital quality and starting to become more diligent when researching where they receive care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “When selecting a hospital, consumers can feel confident in the America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery for their commitment to quality care and exceptional outcomes.”
